Enterprise sites contain all of the backend software necessary to manage the site, track the site activity (both internally and traffic sources) and provide data for your use in keeping the site up to date and popular.

I build Enterprise sites in both WordPress (PHP) and custom PERL (Practical Extraction and Reporting Language.)

I do NOT believe in reinventing the wheel and will in most cases recommend using the WordPress platform for most projects.

Unless your site hosts video or audio files, there is no reason you should have to pay for hosting!

You can keep your current hosting if you’d like, but why pay?

All free hosting accounts include email addresses on the domain name (no more gmail for business!).

Free hosting storage space and bandwidth allocations are determined when the site is set up and will be increased automatically if needed until reaching 6Gigs bandwidth. If the site needs more than that, you need your own dedicated server.

Free hosting applies to sites built by LKHLC. If you change developers, or themes after launch, eventually you’ll receive a ‘thanks but please move’ letter.

PHP 

PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. WordPress is programmed in PHP. While PHP originally stood for “Personal Home Page”, it is now said to stand for “PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor”. Often it stands for “Probably Has Problems”.

PERL

Perl is a high-level, general-purpose, interpreted, dynamic programming language.   Though Perl is not officially an acronym, there are various backronyms in usage, such as: Practical Extraction and Reporting Language. Perl was originally developed by Larry Wall in 1987 as a general-purpose Unix scripting language to make report processing easier. Since then, it has undergone many changes and revisions and become widely popular amongst programmers. Larry Wall continues to oversee development of the core language, and its upcoming version, Perl 6. Perl borrows features from other programming languages including C, shell scripting (sh), AWK, and sed. The language provides powerful text processing facilities without the arbitrary data length limits of many contemporary Unix tools, facilitating easy manipulation of text files. Perl gained widespread popularity in the late 1990s as a CGI scripting language, in part due to its parsing abilities.   In addition to CGI, Perl is used for graphics programming, system administration, network programming, finance, bioinformatics, and other applications. Perl is nicknamed “the Swiss Army chainsaw of scripting languages” because of its flexibility and power. In 1998, it was also referred to as the “duct tape that holds the Internet together”, in reference to its ubiquity and perceived inelegance.

Private Label Builds

A major part of my consultancy is building WordPress themes from PSD’s provided by other designers, consultants and IT companies providing websites to their clients.

These themes are made ‘private label’ in that nothing identifying me is included in the theme. The style.css title is your name and your theme name. I am your builder.

For those consultants and designers who provide a steady stream of private label builds I will provide your own staging server at no cost to you. Your client will never know you did not build that great WordPress theme.

My WordPress themes are more than just art turned into styles, turned into functions in codex: I include elements not found in other installations, and offer a most unique, and very successful SEO process, built in and automatic.

I offer Ecommerce using the Ecwid Cart System, free of charge. All you have to do is log into its control panel, create categories and add your products. Ecwid is AJAX based so it stays inside your site to process sales and never looks like it is sending your visitor to an unknown location. It is totally secure and totally free up to 20 products. It is also very inexpensive for unlimited products and makes a perfect ecommerce solution for any website.

Not charging to install plugins means: contact forms, special application plugins to offer coupons, publishing, galleries, sliders, classifieds, question and answer services and pretty much anything you can think of. The only plugins I remove from the free list are s2Member (paid memberships) and Buddypress (which being a plugin doesn’t really qualify as it has its own theme structure).
